Here at Sons of a Bit, we love technology and we’re fans of its uses and advantages, not only regarding its ‘fun’ side (entertainment, leisure…), but also related to the ‘serious’ one (health, education).

We’re a company committed to people, for this reason we develop innovative scientific and pedagogical projects which offer effective help to the personal and professional challenges of our users.

The name of one of these projects is AARLens.

This project is an R&D&i app for mobile devices for children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their tutors (educators and relatives) making their daily life in their common environments (educational and family) much easier. Divided into different development stages, the first of them is focused on Anticipation and Motivation.

This first stage of the project has been developed by Fundación Integra and ASTRADE with the collaboration of Productora de Impacto Social y Nuevos Medios IONALAB, together with Sons of a Bit as software developers. Moreover, it’s been funded by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The app consists of an online scheduled agenda, which is available in real time and can be created, modified or implemented from any place with Internet access. Tutors have granted a series of permissions in order to set up the agenda of one or more users at the same time.

Furthermore, the ADS-HFA can be provided with the permissions to set up the agenda themselves. It’s also possible to tutor ADS users in real time and use a customize reward system to motivate them.

This first stage encourages the skills related to their autonomy, learning, self-confidence and safety.
